Adding and managing your products
Create a product, fill in its details (photos, price, VAT, delivery, keywords), put it on sale or withdraw it, and the limits to be aware of.
Everything happens in the shop's Products tab. Click New product: the first question is about variants (“Does this product have variants?”). Answer No, a single model for a simple product, or Yes, several variants if it comes in several sizes, colours or volumes. This choice is locked as soon as the product's first order comes in.
The product page, tab by tab
- General: the name, a short summary, the description, an optional reference (SKU), keywords and the On sale box. Keywords are not displayed on the site: they serve as filters and as material for showcase pages.
- Photos: up to eight photos, taken from your media library. The first one is the main photo.
- Price and VAT: the price is entered inclusive of all taxes; VAT is calculated according to the rule you choose (the shop's rule by default). If your shop does not collect VAT, the price you enter is the amount you receive.
- Quantity / Stock: leave it empty to sell without limit, or enter a quantity. See Variants and stock.
- Delivery: state whether the product is shipped (“Yes, I ship it”) or whether it is a service. For a shipped product, enter the parcel weight if your delivery charges are calculated by weight.
- Features: name / value pairs that visitors read on the product page (material, dimensions, origin…).
- Highlight: a label displayed on the photo, two at most. The “Sale” label appears on its own when a promotional campaign applies.
- SEO: the showcase page it belongs to, and the product page's URL, derived automatically from the name. If you rename the product, the old URL redirects to the new one.
Finish with Create product (or Save). The product appears in the site's catalogue the next time you publish.
A product's statuses
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| On sale | The On sale box is ticked and the product page is complete: the product can be ordered on the site. |
| Incomplete | Essential information is missing (the price, for example): the product cannot be sold. |
| Sold out | Stock is at zero: the product remains visible, marked “Sold out”, with no order button. |
| Disabled | The On sale box is unticked: the product does not appear on the site. |
Withdrawing a product from sale, or deleting it
To withdraw a product without losing it, untick On sale on its product page, or tick several products in the list and use Withdraw from sale. The same bulk actions let you Put on sale or Attach to showcase page. A deleted product (Delete button, with confirmation) disappears permanently from the catalogue; orders already placed keep their line items.
The limits to be aware of
- Name: 120 characters; summary: 200; description: 2,000.
- Eight photos, ten keywords and twenty features per product.
- The catalogue has a maximum number of products. Once you reach the cap, the message “Delete or disable products to create new ones” appears. The Technical limits link on the Subscription page details the caps.
