Site settings

Your site's address, its reference language, “Site under construction” mode, the email address that receives form submissions, the full copy of the site, and how to rename or delete a site.

The Settings section, at the bottom of the left-hand column of your site, brings together its general settings: address, language, visibility, forms and copy. Account settings (email, display language, legal identity) are elsewhere, in Global settings.

The site address

Every site has an automatic address, in the form s- followed by twelve characters: it is permanent, works from the very first publication and can always be shared. Instead, you can choose a subdomain in your own name (monrestau.wacapella.com): 3 to 63 characters, lower-case letters, digits and hyphens, with no hyphen at the beginning or the end. It becomes active at the next publication, or immediately if the site is already online. The Check button tells you whether a name is available; a name is only reserved once it has been saved.

The reference language

The reference language is the language of your content: starting texts, AI writing, the language declared to browsers. Changing it does not translate what has already been written. On a multilingual site, it becomes the source language for translations and addresses: a change requires republishing. See A Site in Several Languages.

Site under construction

Turn on Site under construction to show a holding page to your visitors, at every address of the site. Your content is kept and reappears as soon as you turn the mode off. Either way, the change takes effect at the next publication: remember to publish after flipping the switch.

The email address that receives form submissions

Messages sent by this site's forms arrive at your account email address. The address is shown here for reference; to change it, edit the account email in Global settings. See Forms.

The full copy of the site

You can download your site as standalone HTML files: pages, images, styles, published blog posts, and a small handler for your forms. No WebAcappella server is needed to display it: you can host it wherever you like, or simply keep it. Click Prepare the copy, then Download (.zip).

  • The shop checkout is not included: it needs our servers to work.
  • If you request a new copy shortly after the previous one, the existing archive is served; a new version is prepared no sooner than one hour later, and only if the content has changed.

Renaming or deleting a site

Both of these actions are carried out from My Websites, on the site's card: Rename the site changes its internal name (not its address), Delete the site erases pages, media and publication, after confirmation by typing the site's exact name. This deletion is irreversible. A site connected to a domain name cannot be deleted until the domain has been detached.
