Create your site’s form, choose its fields, place it on a page, and find out where messages arrive and how spam is filtered.

Creating a form happens in two stages: defining it (the fields) in the Forms section of your site, then placing it on a page with the editor’s Form component. Messages from your visitors arrive by email, in your usual inbox.

Creating the form#

Click Add a form, give it a label (“Contact”, “Quote request”) and a technical name, which is suggested automatically. The email subject is optional: by default, your messages arrive with the subject “[Form]” followed by the label.

The fields#

Add up to twenty fields. The type is chosen when the field is created and cannot be changed afterwards: short text, long text, email, phone, web address, number, date, drop-down list, single choice or checkbox. Each field has a label, can be marked Required field and can carry help text. Depending on the type, you can also set example text (placeholder), a length or limits, an allowed format, or the list of options (one per line).

Placing the form on a page#

In the editor, add the Form component from the palette: it lets you choose the site’s form and the label of the send button. In the editor and in preview, sending is disabled (“Publish to make the form work”): it works on the published site.

Where messages arrive#

• Every submission is sent by email to your account address (the one shown in the site settings). Your address appears nowhere on the site.
• Nothing is archived in WebAcappella: your inbox is the only copy. Keep any messages there that you want to hold on to.
• After sending, the visitor is returned to the page they came from. They do not receive an automatic acknowledgement of receipt.

Spam filtering#

Several protections work without getting in your visitors’ way: an invisible trap field for robots, a minimum delay of a few seconds between the form being displayed and sent, a limit on submissions made in quick succession from the same connection, and, when it is enabled, a discreet anti-robot check. Blocked attempts are not counted and never reach you.
