The Text block

Write a long text (a biography, an introduction, a story) block by block, place images within the text, set the drop cap and the reading width, and get help from AI.

The Text component (Content category) holds a long text, such as a biography, an introduction, or the story of your business. You write it block by block, like a blog article, and set it up in the two tabs of its editing window, Content and Layout.

Writing the text

  • Add a block opens the choice of type: Paragraph, Section title, Image, Quote, List or Button. Then click the spot in the text where you want to place it.
  • ↕ Move, then a click at the desired spot, changes the order. On the keyboard, Alt+↑ and Alt+↓ (⌥ on Mac) move the block one step.
  • Inside a paragraph, Enter starts the next paragraph (Shift+Enter adds a line break). Text pasted from several paragraphs becomes as many blocks, and its bulleted lists become lists.
  • × deletes a block; Undo, in the banner that appears, puts it back in place.

Bold, italic and links work as in every text field (⌘B, ⌘I, ⌘K on Mac, Ctrl elsewhere). See Formatting text.

Images within the text

An Image block can span the full width or sit within the text: Position in the text offers Full width, Wrapped on the left and Wrapped on the right. When wrapped, the image takes One third, Less than half or Half of the width, and the text flows around it. On a phone, the image moves above the text. Fill in the image description, as that is what screen readers read out.

Drop cap, width and size

  • Drop cap on the first paragraph: a large initial, applied only if the paragraph is at least three lines long and starts with a letter or a digit.
  • Reading width: Normal, Narrower or Wider. A line that is too long is hard to read, so the normal width suits most texts.
  • Text size: Normal or Larger.
  • Text font: the site's body font, or the site's heading font.

Getting help from AI

  • Write with AI: give your notes, in any order (the facts to tell: dates, names, titles, places), and an instruction if needed. The AI shapes them into paragraphs. The text already written is taken into account and replaced; images and buttons are kept, after the new text.
  • The ✨ button on a text block reworks it: Improve, Shorten or Correct.
