Events: your upcoming dates

The Events block: list your signings, fairs and exhibitions, let past dates drop off on their own, and offer “Add to my calendar”.

The Events block lists your upcoming dates: signings, fairs, exhibitions, concerts. It is found in the Content category of the palette.

Adding your dates

  1. Double-click the block. In the Dates tab, click + Add a date.
  2. Fill in the start, the end for an event spanning several days, the event, the venue and the city. The link is optional: the fair's website, the bookstore, the ticket office.
  3. Click Save. The list sorts itself by date.

Past dates

A date leaves the list on its own the day after its last day, without you having to republish. In the Layout tab, the Past dates setting chooses what becomes of it: collapsed at the bottom of the list (the archive), hidden, or shown grayed out.

On the home page and on the Events page

The Show at most setting limits the block to 3 or 5 dates, which is what a home page block needs. Each block keeps its own dates, so an events list on the home page and another on an Events page are two lists to maintain.

“Add to my calendar”

This button gives visitors the calendar file for the date they chose, which they open in their calendar app. The file is built by their browser, with no third-party service. You can remove the button in the Layout tab.
