Writing and publishing an article

Create a blog article, build it block by block, have AI write or refine it, preview it, then publish it and the conditions that apply.

The blog is a section of your site: open the site, then Blog in the left-hand column. The list shows the number of articles, including drafts, and the maximum allowed for your site.

Creating an article

Click New article and give it a title: its address (/blog/…) is created automatically and can be changed later. The editor opens with, alongside the content, a few fields around the article:

  • Summary: two or three sentences that make people want to read on, displayed on the Blog page and in Google results.
  • Address (URL): renaming it after publication automatically creates a redirect from the old one.
  • Author: shown beneath the title; leave it empty to display nothing.
  • Keywords: up to eight, separated by commas.
  • Cover image: taken from your media library, it also serves as the share image on social networks.

Building the content block by block

An article is written as a stack of blocks: Add a block, then click at the desired spot. There are six types: Paragraph, Section title (heading or subheading), Image (with an optional caption), List (bulleted or numbered), Quote (with its source) and Button (a label and a link to a page, a URL, an email address or a phone number). Text areas accept bold, italics and links, see Formatting text. Move changes the order, Remove this block deletes it.

Getting help from AI

  • Write the article with AI: based on the title and your site’s profile, with a free-form instruction (“emphasise winter maintenance, end with a practical tip”). The article’s current content is replaced by a 400- to 700-word text, structured into sections. The summary is filled in if it was empty.
  • Refine this text (the ✨ button on each text block): Improve, Shorten or Correct, with an optional instruction. The text is replaced in the field: read it through, then save.
  • Suggest summary and keywords: derived from the content, once the article is somewhat written.
  • From the editor’s assistant, “write an article about winter care” creates a written draft that is never published: you’ll find it in the Blog section to read through.

Preview, publishing, unpublishing

  • Preview opens the actual rendering of the last save in a new tab, with your site’s theme, header and footer.
  • Publish the article launches the site’s publication: the article is online a few seconds later. If your site also has unpublished changes, they go live at the same time.
  • Editing an article that is already online, then clicking Save, changes nothing on the site: click Republish the article to put the new version online.
  • Unpublish removes the article from the site (its address returns a page not found); Delete the article erases it permanently, with confirmation.
