  1. GDPR check
  2. The robot

Yes, it's a robot. It has good manners.

Spotted it in your server logs? Someone wanted to know what your website loads before its visitors consent. Here's who it is and what it does.

What it does

  • It doesn't crawl the web. It visits a website only when a person asks it to on our check page.
  • It visits the home page and up to 4 other pages, like a visitor, for no more than 90 seconds.
  • It never clicks "Accept all" (or "Reject all"), fills in no forms and logs in to nothing.
  • It comes back to the same website no more than 10 times a day, however many requests come in.

How to recognize it

Its user agent is that of a Chrome browser, followed by its name:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/<version> Safari/537.36 WebAcappella-TestRGPD/1.0 (+https://www.webacappella.com/en/gdpr-check/robot)

It doesn't read robots.txt, and that's on purpose. It doesn't crawl the web, it makes a single visit at a person's request, just as their browser would.
