Import of a site created with WebAcappella 4 (2010)¶
WebAcappella Fx has a layout system similar to Wa4.
However, in the last 9 years many elements have become obsolete and many new possibilities have appeared.
The layout work can therefore be important, even very important depending on the site.
The biggest evolution is the rise of mobile sites that it is now possible to realize with WebAcappella Fx.
We propose you the following approach to continue working on your site thanks to WebAcappella Fx
Import your Wa4 site folder from the ‘open existing project’ button.
Your initial Wa4 file will not be modified in any way
A new WaFx folder will be created
All resources, pages and templates are imported!
Note
Don’t be confused by the fact that you don’t have a resource manager (images/files).
Each new resource added will keep a link to its original source, making it easier for you to update it.
Check the horizontal centering of the pages
Due to the standardization of page width in relation to the “responsive” functionality
It is likely that your pages are off-center
To restore centering on a page, select all items and correct the position using the arrow keys on the keyboard.
Check the background properties*
The background properties from the templates are not automatically applied to the pages during migration.
Check your dynamic menus
The dynamic menus are built differently in WaFx, dimensioning adjustments may be expected
Check where you were using dynamic frames
Dynamic frames no longer exist in WaFx, but you will find the corresponding elements in the list of templates, copy the elements by simply copying and pasting between pages
Link to change language
Wa4 allowed to change the language in 2 ways:
1 - Type of link ‘change language’, this one is well converted in WaFx
2 - Link to a page by specifying a specific language - if necessary, you will have to change the type of this link to “Change current language” in WaFx.
Check your text boxes
In line with current good web practice, text boxes are no longer scrollable
